Starbucks Cuts 13 Drinks from Its Menu: Is Your Favorite Gone?

Starbucks is making big changes to its menu as part of a new initiative called “Back to Starbucks,” which aims to simplify the brand’s offerings. Starting March 4, the Seattle-based coffee chain will remove 13 drinks, including popular Frappuccinos, from its menu. The company says these drinks are either not popular, difficult to make, or too similar to other drinks on the menu.
This is just the beginning. By the end of this fiscal year in September, Starbucks plans to cut about 30% of its menu, which could mean around 100 items, including drinks, breakfast items, pastries, and snacks. The goal is to streamline the menu to create a better customer experience, reduce wait times, and allow room for new ideas.
Many of the drinks being discontinued are Frappuccinos, including the Crème Frappuccinos, which are coffee-free but contain multiple layers of syrups, sauces, and other mix-ins. These drinks are time-consuming to make and often joked about by baristas for being “annoying” to prepare. While these drinks will be removed from the menu, customers can still customize existing drinks like the Vanilla Bean Frappuccino with syrups. However, additional customizations may increase the price.
Some other drinks being discontinued include the Iced Matcha Lemonade, Royal English Breakfast Latte, White Hot Chocolate, and Honey Almondmilk Flat White. Starbucks suggests alternatives like the London Fog Latte or customizing the Flat White with non-dairy creamers.
Along with the menu changes, Starbucks also announced plans to lay off 1,100 corporate employees in March and eliminate hundreds of unfilled roles. CEO Brian Niccol said these moves are aimed at simplifying the company’s structure, reducing complexity, and making the teams more efficient and accountable.
While Starbucks is focusing on its core offerings, it remains to be seen how customers will react to these changes. Also read: “Bitcoin Plummets Below $89K: Is This the End of the Crypto Dream?”
