Mikey Madison, the Oscar-winning actress, hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the first time. During her opening monologue, she joked about critics who doubted she really learned pole dancing for her movie Anora. She said, “I did all my own stunts and dancing in the film, so it upsets me when people think it wasn’t me on the pole. I can prove it right now!”
As the audience cheered, she pretended to get ready to perform but then the stage suddenly changed. A muscular person wearing the same dress as Mikey appeared, doing handstand push-ups and climbing the pole like a pro.
Mikey Madison started the show by saying she had a “crazy month” after Anora won five Oscars, adding, “So in April, I’m just going to sleep!”
Mikey Madison described herself as calm in real life and said she brings that vibe to her roles. Then, a clip played showing her in intense scenes—yelling and fighting in Anora, being burned alive by Leonardo DiCaprio in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and getting shot before falling into fire in Scream 5. She joked, “Just to be clear, those were two different characters set on fire—that’s range!”
As someone who loves horses, she also made fun of her childhood photo where she dressed up with her horse, Thumbelina, as jailbirds. She said, “We were arrested for stealing each other’s hearts. Hard to believe I was homeschooled, right?”
Mikey Madison then joked about looking nothing like her twin brother. In a group photo with three brunettes, he was the only redhead. She said, “If you guessed the one who looks like Ron Weasley on steroids, you win!”
Finally, referencing her horse-riding past, she laughed, “I feel like riding horses prepared me for Anora—except instead of horses, I was riding a Russian twink!”
